Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections) — Vale Annie Quelch – Labor Party stalwart, a true believer and a dear friend to many. Annie and her husband, Frederick, migrated from the United Kingdom to Australia in the late 1950s. They moved to Macquarie Fields in 1960, where they lived for 32 years before moving to the Gold Coast to their forever home. The couple were well-respected community members. A school cleaner and union delegate, Annie joined the Labor Party in 1971 and was an active member of the Ingleburn branch. Annie was a strong voice on women's issues, Indigenous rights, and English classes for migrants. Annie helped protect the local recreational area, Simmos Beach. Annie championed Labor values. Annie would often have a house full of prominent Labor Party politicians, including Mr Gough Whitlam AC QC, Mr John Kerin, Mr Heathcote (Cliff) Mallam, and the first Member for Macquarie Fields, Mr Stan Knowles. Community-minded and caring, Annie was active in the Catholic Church. Annie passed away peacefully on 26 August 2025 at the age of 96. My sincere condolences to Annie's family, including her five children and 13 grandchildren. Rest in peace, Annie.
